Brawl Stars Facts

1. Shelly

  • Scrapped Voice Line: Shelly was originally going to have a voice line saying, "I'm ready to blast!" but it was scrapped in favor of her more iconic lines.

2. Colt

  • Early Version: Colt's original design was much more similar to a classic cowboy, with a wide-brimmed hat. He was reworked to give him a more sleek, modern look.

3. Dynamike

  • Code Fact: In the early development of Dynamike, his bombs had a much shorter fuse time. This was changed to balance his power and prevent him from being too overpowered.

4. Nita

  • Game Origins: Nita was one of the first brawlers created for Brawl Stars and was originally intended to be a tanky support brawler before the developers shifted her role to a damage-dealer with a focus on crowd control.

5. Bull

  • Developer Fact: Bull’s design is based on a “bullfighter” concept. The developers wanted to create a tank with an emphasis on melee combat and crowd control.

6. Jessie

  • Scrapped Gadget: Jessie’s first gadget design was supposed to involve her turret deploying multiple mini turrets. This was eventually scrapped in favor of her current gadget, "Shocky."

7. Brock

  • Code Fact: Brock's rockets used to deal explosive splash damage before the developers decided to change his design to focus more on long-range precision shots.

8. Rico

  • Game Origins: Rico was initially a “junkyard brawler,” but his design was changed to give him a more high-tech, robot-like appearance to fit better with the futuristic theme of Brawl Stars.

9. Barley

  • Early Game: Barley’s initial throwable bottles were more difficult to control, and players complained about their erratic movement, leading to adjustments for better accuracy.

10. Poco

  • Scrapped Soundtrack: Poco’s original soundtrack for his attacks was more rock-based, but the developers decided to make it lighter and more fitting for his character as a mariachi musician.

11. El Primo

  • Code Fact: El Primo’s Super used to deal more damage with each hit, but it was toned down to make him less overpowered, especially when used to push enemies into walls.

12. Penny

  • Scrapped Feature: Penny’s cannon turret was originally going to have an auto-repair feature, but it was scrapped due to balance issues in the game.

13. Carl

  • Game Origins: Carl’s pickaxe idea came from a developer’s desire to have a brawler who could throw an object as both a ranged and melee weapon. It was a unique concept that led to his design.

14. Frank

  • Scrapped Super: Frank’s original Super was much more aggressive, where he would charge at enemies in a straight line, but it was eventually reworked to focus on stunning opponents in an area.

15. Bibi

  • Early Design: Bibi’s bat was originally designed to be much longer and stronger, but the developers decided to shorten it to balance her gameplay style, making her more of a mid-range brawler.

16. Tara

  • Code Fact: Tara’s pulling Super was originally a trap mechanic. Her Super would set a trap on the ground, and enemies who stepped on it would be pulled toward her. This was later replaced by the more strategic and versatile Super.

17. Gene

  • Scrapped Brawler Concept: Gene’s character was initially designed to be a floating genie character, but developers scrapped the idea for a more magical, wish-based power that would align better with his abilities.

18. Max

  • Early Version: Max’s original concept was as a speed-based support character, but the developers adjusted her role into a hybrid of offense and support, making her a versatile team player.

19. Mr. P

  • Game Origins: Mr. P was inspired by the "portal" trope in many sci-fi games, and his suitcase robot was designed as a quirky, oddball element to stand out from the other brawlers.

20. Sprout

  • Scrapped Super: Sprout’s original Super was much more destructive, creating massive damage zones on the battlefield, but the developers chose to adjust it to focus on strategic placement with the wall-building ability.

21. Leon

  • Developer Fact: Leon’s invisibility ability was a developer favorite because of how it allowed for creative and sneaky plays. It was a feature the team was excited to implement in the game.

22. Amber

  • Code Fact: Amber’s flame mechanic was originally going to work as a constant stream of damage, but it was changed to a controlled burst to keep her from being overpowered in certain game modes.

23. Sandy

  • Scrapped Voice Line: Sandy’s original voice lines were much more serious and dark, but the developers decided to change her voice to match her more playful, relaxed, and mysterious personality.

24. Lou

  • Game Origins: Lou’s freeze mechanic was inspired by the classic “freeze ray” concept in many games. His ability to control space with ice was one of the first of its kind in Brawl Stars.

25. Byron

  • Scrapped Design: Byron’s original design was going to be more of a mad scientist character, but the developers opted for his more refined look, which fits better with his role as a medicinal chemist.

26. Edgar

  • Developer Fact: Edgar’s jumping Super was inspired by the idea of creating a brawler who could dart around the map quickly, adding a dynamic playstyle that was previously unexplored.

27. Stu

  • Code Fact: Stu’s ability to dash around was one of the first mechanics coded in Brawl Stars where a brawler could move instantly without a traditional walk or dash animation.

28. Belle

  • Scrapped Feature: Belle’s original concept was a sharpshooter who could lock onto multiple enemies at once. However, the developers modified her to have her "charged shot" mechanic instead, which is more in line with her current design.

29. Chester

  • Scrapped Abilities: Chester was originally going to have a utility-based gadget where he could buff other brawlers in his team. This idea was scrapped as it didn’t fit with his unpredictable nature.

30. Gus

  • Game Origins: Gus was designed to bring back an old-school support mechanic, similar to the role of Poco but with more defensive abilities, offering shields instead of healing.
